General translation is normally referred to as the translation of news articles, comments or text that do not require particular background knowledge about the topic at hand other than thorough knowledge of the target language and culture. The term is often used in translation studies to refer to general subjects such as politics, economics, business and culture to separate the type of translation from expert translation such as technical translation and the translation of literature. Yet it may be argued that no text is general and every text needs particular knowledge to create a good translation.
Yet often a translation or language service buyer does not think of their texts as specialised or technical and thus we use this term to sum up our translation offers that do not particularly fall into the category of technical or specialised texts. If you need a text translated we will be happy to advise you and at all times find the translator who is most experienced for the text type at hand. As a client, you can leave text type definition and other linguistic aspects fully to us - we will be happy to help you.
