ZOO Digital announces first Translation Management and Authoring System for Blu-ray™
ZOO Digital, a provider of software and software-led services for the filmed entertainment market, has just announced the launch of its automated authoring software for producing regionalized Blu-ray™ discs along with its first customer for a new translation management system.
The company has successfully developed a set of software tools for menu regionalization and automated authoring for DVD technology and has now announced the launch of a similar solution the Blu-ray™ format. The rapidly growing disc format is an introduced industry-standard packaged media format for high definition home video and has experienced an increase in sales by 123% year on year, according to the British Video Association. Blu-ray accounts for over 20% of new disc sales of a number of leading titles.
Meeting the requirements of major film studios and the demand for foreign-language versions of film media, the ZOO software makes it easy to create multiple language variants of interactive menus and thus enables the film industry to quickly and cost-effectively produce Blu-ray™ titles for multiple languages.
These new regionalization capabilities of the Blu-ray automated authoring toolset are delivered through integration with ZOO’s Translation Management System (TMS), a web-based solution licensed on a software-as-service basis. According to ZOO's news article, the translation management system has been deployed for a major Hollywood studio where it is beginning to be used to manage, coordinate and regionalize worldwide marketing campaigns for theatrical film releases.
The information currently available on the translation management system tells us that a number of modules is incorporated, designed to support international media production workflows. This includes a graphical display of the project progress, a dictionary of standard translations, as well as the capability to ‘learn phrases’ in specific contexts. Due to its web-based nature, the tool is globally accessable by any translator or linguist working on a project using the technology.
