SDL Trados Technologies launch SDL Trados Studio 2009
The latest strike from SDL has arrived. Labelled "the most revolutionary and intuitive translation memory software the industry has ever seen" the new suite is of course highly anticipated.
The patented features AutoSuggest and QuickPlace, a real-time preview, a PDF-Filter and the new TM engine RevleX claim productivity levels can increase by up to 30%.
For a limited time AutoSuggest Pro is included in every order for SDL Trados Studio 2009 Freelancer Edition.
Having had the chance to check out SDL Trados Studio 2009 in an SDL webinar earlier this year, EasyLSP agrees that this software suite looks more than promising. Elements known and appreciated from other products like real-time preview and text suggestion are without a doubt priceless for anybody in the industry.
With a price from €715 it is, as other Trados products, not exactly the first option for young translators or those new to freelancing. Companies should take the following into account: Whether or not productivity increases by up to 30% - or at all - is arguably depending on the user. To this day, many companies do not use existing CAT technology to its full extent. A considerable increase in productivity can be achieved from properly training your translators to work with TM technology and other tools relevant to the industry.
Although many institutes and universities with courses for translators understand the importance of technology in translation these days, it still is important to not take for granted that your degree translator has up-to-date knowledge of the tools in question.
Upgrading your employees skills should be a priority over investing in another Trados product just after its launch.
